Gifts to York Region Community Foundation come in many sizes, shapes and forms.

Each gift, no matter how big or small, helps make an impact on our community. And it’s not only monetary gifts that make a difference—gifts in kind and gifts of time are also welcome. We are always looking for eager people from our diverse community to help out with committees, events, and other initiatives.
Whether you are looking to start your own fund or to donate a few dollars, there are many ways you can give to York Region Community Foundation. We’re here to help you make a lasting difference while ensuring that your charitable goals are carried out and the needs of the community are met with the help of your gift.

You can make a lasting difference in any of the following ways:

• Give to an existing fund or establish your own Fund through a gift of cash or property.
• Transfer shares of stock to the Foundation and eliminate capital gains tax on appreciated securities.
• Include the Foundation in your will or estate plan. A bequest may be for a specific amount or for the remaining share of an estate or any portion thereof.
• Give a gift of life insurance. Life insurance can be an ideal way to create a major gift at a relatively low cost to the supporter. A tax receipt is issued for the premiums paid by the donor when the Foundation is named owner of a new or existing policy and for existing polices you also get a receipt for the value of the cash value of the policy at the time of the gift
• Transfer an existing Private Foundation or Charitable Trust. Administrators may find it practical and economical to transfer assets to a Fund within York Region Community Foundation. This will ensure that the intent of the fund is maintained for generations.
• Set up a charitable remainder trust or other planned giving instrument to suit your financial needs and benefit your community.
• Establish a corporate giving program. A business may find it advantageous to use the Foundation as a vehicle for its community giving. A fund might honour a retiree, or recognize a board member or employee for outstanding contribution to your company or organization. Most of these funds are administered through The Community Fund.
• Give a gift in memory of a friend or relative.
