Donors YRCF Vital York, York Region Community Foundation Generations ago, throughout the world, when communities were a whistle-stop and everyone knew each other’s name, people inherently understood the value and spirit of community-building. Everyone was involved in helping their community grow and their neighbours thrive. But the communities of old have grown into cities and from cities into regions, and the definition of “community” today is much more complex.

We still aspire to help people live more productive and rewarding lives, but how we achieve our goal is no longer simple.
York Region Community Foundation has a bold solution — to help community members make thoughtful and long-term investments in charitable activities that will help our communities flourish.

We all want to share in our community’s capacity to grow and change, to turn challenges into opportunities and to address important priorities. As community members, we set great store by the experiences and opportunities that help people. When our communities flourish, we all benefit. But healthy communities don’t just happen. They grow from a sense of caring, commitment and engagement.
We invite you to remember the past, dream of the future and act to achieve what community means to you.

  • YRCF offers the means to support your favourite causes or charities in perpetuity. In partnership with BMO Harris Private Banking, we have the expertise and investment power to effectively manage a growing endowment;
  • We have the capacity to accept gifts in any form, including cash, real estate, securities, shares in publicly traded companies and insurance;
  • You may choose to support your hometown broadly or to designate your gift in support of one or more favourite causes or charities within a specific community, communities or throughout the region;
  • With our finger on the pulse of the local charitable community, we offer unique insights and experiences that can help you choose the best -possible beneficiary of your support and even change it from year to year; and
  • Accountability is a top priority. We ask the charities you support to submit an annual report detailing the results and benefits of your donation, and we are available to provide you with an analysis of the returns.
